“When You Already Have ‘Will’”
In this quiet reflection by Clarity, Edited, we look at Matthew 13:12–13 not as a warning, but as an invitation. What if “having” simply means having the will — the courage to believe, to act, to trust? This piece reminds us that the moment we choose to lean in, even with trembling faith, God meets us there… and multiplies what little we bring.

Scripture:

“For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.”

Matthew 13:12–13

Reflection:

We often read this passage with the eyes of the world — as a warning, a harsh reckoning, even a spiritual merit system. But today, I read the word “has” differently.

What if it’s not about possessions or blessings… but about the will?
The will to believe, to move, to trust — even when nothing is certain.

“For to the one who has will, more will be given.” That flicker of resolve? That trembling yes? That’s enough. God honors even that. Because it’s not about having it all figured out. It’s about having just enough faith to lean in.

But to the one who “has not” — who chooses paralysis, avoidance, cynicism even the whisper of potential might slip away.

Jesus spoke in parables because the truth isn’t loud. It doesn't shout to convince. It waits to be received. And only those who will to understand… begin to hear.

This verse isn't punishment. It's a pattern.

The more we choose to see, the clearer it becomes.
The more we choose to act, the stronger we get.
The more we choose to trust, the more trust becomes home.

So today, I choose to believe that my “will”fragile, flickering, imperfect — is enough for God to multiply.

And in that choice, I understand.
